Classical music with its soothing melodic tones and harmonies is now more readily accepted in pet care as being a positive for the animals who get to listen but is it really? The answer may be yes, no and it depends on what kind. In addition to being able to observe a positive impact, it makes sense that the right sort of classical music needs to be played from the animal perspective to be effective. Soothing music may have a universal component for all species. Factors such as lower pitch and regular tempo are typically associated with more pleasant music while high pitched and irregular tempo are usually perceived as disturbing.

Our house is normally pretty serene, and the cats like it that way - the other day I put on an old Robin Trower record (mama was out) and the cats just looked shell-shocked. (I must have woken them up - poor things....)
I swear my cat recognizes a Chopin piano piece when I play it (only the right hand, I’m still a learner). She invariably comes in to listen when I’m practicing.
Torey-The-Border-Collie(RIP) loved Classical Music, especially Bizet, and Specifically, The Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite.
Lynn-Dah-The-Dog’s tastes are not nearly so refined, but she has been known to sit transfixed in front of the speakers as Pink Floyd’s “Dogs” is played!
All I know is that your cats meows will become more elaborate if it hears a lot if opera.
