Remember him well from my youth in Cleveland.
RIP
My all time favorite baseball player. Honest.
I went to a baseball card show in Erie, Pa.around 1984-85. One of the dealers had about 15 Don Mattingly rookie cards fanned out on his table. Eighty dollars apiece. He had stacks of boxes of older cards and I asked him if he had an Al Rosen rookie card. He never heard of him! But he did find one and I got it for three dollars.
I used to put my Mickey Mantle cards in my bicycle spokes just to tick off all of the Yankee fans I was hanging around with. And no—I don’t regret it.
just saw this as I was surfing the posts here...Glad he had a great long life, he was so handsome as I remember...
I moved to Cleveland, OH. in Dec. 1952 and left OHIO, in 2003 and returned to my birthplace..yuck...should have stayed in OHIO ...I miss my friends who I still keep in touch with.
Raised my two children in OH. and they have both relocated to the South, so that is more than likely where I will also finally go...no more OH. or PA. winters...
something to look forward to in my old age.
