House of Cards Season 3 has jumped the shark
03/01/2015

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:27:31 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

The first couple of seasons were pretty good. Now it's just an homage to FDR and a rant against Walmart.

When is Francis going to pay for all the crimes he committed getting to the White Hut?

I binged watched all 13 episodes on Friday.

Loved the first two seasons. Season Three left me feeling sad and empty.

You are right. Totally jumped the shark. Dang shame. I hope season four is better. (If there is a season four).

Too much emphasis on the First Lady. She is the most uninteresting character of them all.

Can you post a spoiler and tell us how it ends?

This is the third season of the modern House of Cards and you can the house beginning to tumble. Season 2 ended with the protagonist gaining the presidency.

I have seen the original and that was marvelous. The lead actor in that was absolutely diabolical. When he gave the asides to the camera, it sent chills up my spine.

The story lines have some similarities, but in the original I don’t recall the political issues taking such a front seat as the modern one.

My guess is that the modern one will end similarly to the BBC one, but I’m only halfway through it, so who knows?

I have seen the BBC series a couple of times and it is first rate. Ian Richardson, in my opinion, may be the better actor in this.

I am now watching the second season where I left off some time back. Will decide whether to watch Season Three later.

Oh unlike the British version Frank Underwood does not die at the end.
That’s not a spoiler, that is why I think they will make a season four.

How can you Freepers even stand to watch anything Spacey is in?

President Obama will go down as having passed some of the most historic bills in the history of this country,” Spacey told Hot Press magazine in a recent interview. “That despite constant knee-jerk opposition from the Republicans. A lot of people don’t realize how much he’s done in the most difficult of circumstances.”

As for Congress, Spacey is less impressed.

“It’s maybe interesting for an American audience that’s sat through the most non-productive Congress in the history of the United States, in terms of bills passed, to watch a fictional show [“House of Cards”] where some bills actually get passed,” he said. ...

“I started working on my first presidential campaign when Jimmy Carter ran for president in 1976 and I was in high school. And over the course of many years, I worked for other candidates in various races and ultimately became very close with former President Clinton,” he said. “I also knew Teddy Kennedy and Pat Moynihan and there are a whole number of remarkable and important politicians that I’ve managed to find myself in the same room with on many occasions.”

Paying no attention to anything about them and just taking in what they do as actors or musicians is a good place to start. Why would I even bother to try to find out about Spacey's politics? It makes no difference to me.

I saw the UK version of House of Cards when it was on Masterpeice Theater on PBS. Its based on a book and the author did have Francis pay for his crimes but the BBC decided to have him escape punishment in their version.

House Of Cards by Michael Dobbs.
The first book on kindle is on kindle unlimited/

Think I will read the books!

In the original BBC series, Frank talks to the camera often and we get to hear his thoughts. We see his ruthless rise to the top and then he’s killed off by his wife. This version is good but it’s turned into a soap opera.

Totally agree with you and happy that someone else feels the same way...
Last weekend was “gay”maggedon....Black Sails, TWD, bloody Oscars and even HGTV with Degenerate’s “challenge”....
Sick. Of. It.

Frank’s jobs program is so annoying. Jobs created from tax money are not “sustainable” jobs. They kill “sustainable” jobs.

I found my blood pressure rising after that and his opponent for the Dem. nomination ranting against Walmart and putting a cap on CEO’s pay.

I forgot about that.

It's wandered off into politics instead of telling the story it was originally telling.

Now Frank is a True Believer. Before he was just a self-serving thug.
