But Phys.Org relays a glimmer of hope by way of Alex Alemi, a grad student involved in the research: He says those who want to remain safe from the undead for as long as they can should head to the northern Rockies.
He explains that while books and movies typically show an outbreak touching all corners of the country immediately, "in our attempt to model zombies somewhat realistically, it doesn't seem like this is how it would actually go down." Yes, major cities could be toast within days, but less populated areas could be unaffected for weeks, and the northern Mountain Time Zone could be safe for months.

Seems like to me the safest place to be during a zombie attack would be in the nearest cemetery.
It would be empty, at the least.
Northern Ohio would be pretty safe right now.The zombies would be frozen solid,just walk up and shoot them in the head.

Two schools of thought on that, both of them wrong. One idea is that Zombies can’t swim but they can walk or crawl underwater. Some suggest that they’re afraid of water and won’t cross. In some instances it’s been said that they won’t go over water even using a bridge.
I thought that a lack of brains would keep them away from such places.

And by announcing it to everyone, they’ve destroyed the Northern Rockies as the last hideout.
You are assuming the cemeteries do not have walls and gates around them. Some do.

People also forget others would already be there. You could wind up as a wal-mart for them.
I would head north, anywhere, but Minnessota or North Dakota would be great. The Z’s would freeze and could be dispatched during winter safely. The only negative is that you would also have to live in the area with probably no services we are used to with civilization,so it would be a pioneer frontier. When you are not dispatching zombies, you are growing/catching food.
Shopping malls are designed to be havens against the zombies.

People don’t think about ambush potential or that not everyone would be happy to see them arrive.
