The Phillies were a pioneer of the steroid era back in the early 90’s. Remember when Len Dykstra went from wiry little guy to Charles Atlas in one off season. Now that these players are hitting their late 40’s and 50’s, makes one wonder if the effect of steroid abuse is raising its ugly head. What horrors are we going to read about in the 2020’s. But on the other hand, since the early pioneers were using stuff meant for veterinary use, maybe not.

I wonder about that also. The use of HgH, testosterone and all the blocking and masking agents in order to maintain muscle growth and stamina are all untested in long term studies at the doses these guys were using.

We’re certainly going to learn about the subject with the NFL studying brains, bit poor John Vukovich was sadly deceived if he ever thought he was taking PEDS. From his Wikipedia bio:”He is also known for recording the lowest career major league batting average (.161) of any non-pitcher with 500 ABs or more.”
