My first thought when seeing his mug shot was that he looked like a muslim convert. Your post is the first time I have read anything that supports my suspicion.

And every other nutball moslem has left a trail like an Oklahoma tornado of moslemness. Emails, writings, letters, coworkers, what imam they followed, jihadi youtube and Facebook posts, statements upon arrest, behavior after arrest, etc etc. This guy has a beard. That’s it.
When someone great is struck down, we want it to have meaning. It had to be Obamas revenge, it had to be a moslem striking back, etc. The desire is that they were killed by something big, worthy of who they were. Like Jackie O said after JFK was shot. Something along the lines that “why did it have to be just some silly little communist?”
Its hard to accept that it was simply a stark raving mad lunatic of the order of the type that killed John Lennon, shot Reagan, or committed the Son of Sam murders. People look for clues but there are none that will make sense outside his own crazy skull.

No, my time in Texas is generally on air force bases, where the only beard is often mine (and I am generally in a flight suit, so I get a few looks).
And I agree that “scruf” is the normal look among most more masculine younger males not in the military (a rejection of the feminization of America, IMHO), but a “chin beard” has a distinct meaning, at least in middle eastern circles.

I have to say something about recruiting these days.
With hussein on the job, and the results we’ve seen in his so-called “combatting” of enemy islamism, there must be some blowback relating to at least some of those currently seeking to enter the military.
When I entered the Army back in 1967 (RA, but the draft was still on too), there was some rather extensive mental screening in place. Not that it culled every whackjob who may or may not have been trying to enlist, though as I say, it was relatively extensive.
Today, after several years of uncertain warfare, and a sometimes genuine dearth of patriots who would have enlisted in earlier periods, but would not even consider it these days under the likes of a CIC like ø, it seems altogether possible to me that those earlier standards have been relaxed to the point where already mentally ill characters like this Routh guy are passed upon merely to fill ranks.
Perhaps I’m totally wrong having been out of the military for so long. But I would be interested in hearing from any former Marine, soldier or sailor of say the past 6 to 8 years to this effect.

Exactly. I knew a young Air Force vet who was totally nuts. I figured the USAF recruiter must have needed to fill his monthly quota and pushed him through because he had no business being in ANY branch of the military. He spent a grand total of 14 months at the GPS Satellite facility in Colorado Springs and was medically discharged with a 100% service-connected disability that included PTSD. I never realized that Colorado Springs was a combat zone. Meanwhile, people who have REAL mental and physical injuries have to wait for the VA to get off their dead arses to get taken care of.

Sorry, you didn’t post a link in the thread until the 43rd post which I had not read when I made the comment. And that link infers that because he supposedly had a trimmed mustache at some point he MAY possibly be Muslim.
I’m going to have to caution my son about hanging around with all his young friends who are potential Muslims because they have trimmed mustaches.
