Then you have a guy like me. 40 years smoking the stuff, never had one problem, highly successful carreer, beautiful home/wife/family, and this factual case is mimicked by virtually every pot smoker I have known and associated with for the past 40 years.
These "scare the kiddies" fantasy tales are as old and re-hashed (pardon the pun) as they are false and pathetic. Grow up. Get a grip. 20-30% of the country (yes, it is that much) have been smoking the stuff daily since the 70's.
If there were going to be any tidal wave of horrific results, we'd have seen them decades ago.

I don’t smoke the stuff but, have many friend who do.
They run the gammut of low end earners to private jet owner.
None...none of them are crazy and are in fact highly productive.
Also, the nicest people.
They never miss work
They are never late
And can rationally discuss a wide variety of subjects.
Legalize this crap and be done with it.

My story mimics yours, and all my pot head friends make plenty of money and are in stable families.
I sense that a lot of opposition to mj is simply cultural programming.
Maybe the idea of successful people who happen to ingest cannabis does not fit their meme.

The new stuff is 500 per cent more potent than what you were used to in the 70’s thru the 90’s. THC levels that high are literally frying young persons’ brains. I see it frequently from the young folk that come into my ICU, THC in their systems and psychotic for days!
Another bone I pick with drug users...they often buy stuff that was sourced from murderous drug cartels; meaning money goes into the hands of those that have killed innocent men women and children...doing things as bad or worse than ISIS has done to “unbelievers”. I think a great many “inoffensive pot smokers” have blood on their hands! So much for the libertarian arguments of “live and let live”!
My horror story is pretty similar. Started at 18 in college, first full-time/salary job at 21 with no breaks in work until I left the corporate world and went on my own at 48. Made six figures at the corporate job my last 5 or 6 years, and also did $30-$60k most years doing side-projects. Still in my first marriage.
When I was 32 I went, on a lark, to a proctored Mensa testing session... not only qualified for Mensa, but also got into Intertel which has more strict requirements than Mensa.
Similar deal with my oldest sister... she retired from her one and only job a couple of years ago. She worked at MIT in the rocket engine lab... a rocket scientist. I can go on about other friends/relatives.
There's a huge difference between a recreational user and an addict.
