This is not Twitter, FreeRepublic has never worked very well with everyone shouting the same thing from the rooftops. We change the course of events through strong and long threads that discuss, share, and reinforce conservative thought. All it takes is a second to do a search and check recent threads.
Do you not fully realize what the significance of this Yemen event is? Yet you are still worried about double posting?
I agree with your thoughts, but just didn’t think this was the one to take issue with. I understand you feel differently on this.
It all depends on the gravity of the story. I think you see what the consensus seems to be. It seems to be working OK.

Just a moment ago there was an update about this stating the weapons were disabled.

It used to be a time when someone posted a duplicate was reminded and gently reprimanded. Now if someone - like yourself - points out the obvious, you get flamed
And there was a time when the mods removed or locked a dupe thread. For the very reasons you mention.
Now? Now it’s common to see 6-8 threads on a single issue in just a few hours. Someone gets up - sees a story on Drudge or similar site - and FReeps it. With nary a look to see that there are previous threads with 50-100 replies on them.
Mods don’t care. And Jim? Too busy running FReepathons.
