Sorry, I had the wrong information.

You are correct, the collision took place by the Taconic State Pkwy at that location.
Commerce Street crossing by the cemetery, I was incorrectly pointing to the “Cemetary Rd” crossing.

“Collision”, not “accident”. That simply can’t happen if one follows basic traffic instructions. The lights and bells go off, then the bar comes down. For the bar to come down on ones car, looks like someone was trying to run the warning lights. There really are very few accidents, mostly terrible driving decisions.

No problem!

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that the car tried to run the warning lights. I'm envisioning a scenario where there was a red light at the nearby intersection and a line of traffic that extended back over the railroad crossing ... or perhaps another scenario where the vehicle got stuck in ice or snow at the crossing. The initial reports said something about the driver getting out of the vehicle to check something before it was hit.
