I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?

"Would you be better at it than, say, a certain current _resident in a white hut on Penn Ave in the Distruct of Columbia?"

The afore-mentioned beaver would be better at it than that guy.

I'm probably too old to be a contender; nearly as old as Hillary!

(I'll be seven next week. At least, the way I count it.)

"Is it the government's money or is it our money?"

The government has no money. All they do is distribute their ill-gotten gains to their fellow supporters.

I'd have trouble supporting the government, because I'd have trouble justifying their means of earning income. We could use tariffs and excise fees, and charge for various licenses and such.

In the end, I'd have to demand tribute from producers, just as landlords demand rent from tenants. I'd likely institute a "rule of thumb", which means asking for twenty percent of farm production and the profit of various industries.

Depending on how much "infrastructure" and national defense demanded, there should be a large surplus from this tribute, which would get plowed back in to the national economy in one way or another.

I'm picturing James Kirk's demand for "A Piece of the Action", and getting the Feds cut in for a payout.

My idea for funding government: offer products and services that people might purchase IF they liked.
Sadly, I doubt that government would divest itself of the funds of the populace willingly unless prodded at bayonet point.
Power and money once confiscated through various schemes never is willingly given up without some force being used.

Yup.

But I do know that Mercedes Lackey did a series of stories about shipscats.
Rather enjoyable, IF you can find them.

That’s why I picture it as similar to an insurance program, like crop insurance.

No individual farmer can guarantee that he will have a successful crop in any particular season. But the aggregate of all of them is bound to be successful.

So every successful year, you’re paying in twenty percent of your growth. On unsuccessful years, you’d have less growth.

With the surplus, the “government” arranges to pay “workers” who will earn their bread or its equivalent doing public works. Overall, every person involved on either side should be working for the common success of all.

Try to make that scheme work!

If there is a way to make it overcomplicated, insane, and unwieldy, government can make it happen.

"Anything here to spark your memory?"

It's not a good idea to have sparks in that vicinity. The results could be explosive.

Just so long as none of them start chanting “ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul” everyone should be fine.

One GPS to lose them, one GPS to bring them, one GPS to confuse them all and in the truckyard ring them.
