I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
Told you it would work... ;-)
And on another note, I commented a bit ago about venturing to the basement to visually check the ‘you’ve-got-this-much-oil-left’ gauge on the tank for storing #2...
I did so and verified that the remaining volume of contents was as I expected - low. In an attempt to postpone an unwanted cooling period on the interior of Ye Olde Farm House (of course caused by glowbull warming - the Science Is Settled) I called the purveyor of refined petroleum product commonly known as #2 fuel-oil to arrange for a delivery.
They said the earliest they could get here is Monday...
I still have some wiggle-room because the float is not bottomed out. Historically I have a few days left even after it bottoms out, but the gauge is only partially accurate. Sort of like the weather people who are semi-Accurate so I really don’t know how long it will last. (If necessary I do have my 10 gallon emergency stash of #2 ‘off road diesel’ standing by. The furnace won’t care that it will be drinking the same stuff that the farmer next door feeds his not-so-old-Deere and my Olde Deere won’t care ‘cause it drinks gasoline. That will buy me about a day’s worth of heat with these temperatures.)
Mine's scheduled for tomorrow. My check is already written.
Le Sigh.
To get them to commit to a Monday delivery we had to prepay for 150 gallons... Otherwise, they would have been here 'maybe Tuesday' if we wanted to give them a check for the total delivery...
Considering the wind, the temps, the fantastically insulated Olde Farmhouse, and the present float indication on the #2 containment vessel, I didn't feel comfortable pushing it to 'maybe Tuesday'...
I am awakening to a cooling house. I've checked the furnace, and it is shut down. This could be, and likely is, because the tank is dry.
In this situation, I often have to prime the line again. My burner doesn't mix well with too much fussing, but I needn't even try that until the delivery is made.
I've also scheduled a burner cleaning and servicing for this morning, so having it at a moderate operating temperature may not be an entirely bad thing.
There are other parameters to this situation, however; how cool to let the house become, and how to integrate the fact that I'm supposed to go to work today, well ...
Le Sigh.
just a little more to the right..ohhh!..thanks!
Back from the city. Except for the circumstances, I love where I live. I could use another room and more windows, but I’m grateful for what I have. It’s so much better than what I had!
Luv dat kitteh!
Kittie doesn’t buy what you iz saying, Mr. Prez’dent.
It wouldn’t take much to convince me to stay home from work today. It’s 2 degrees out.
Having to take care of the heater would do it in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, I live in an apartment building with a super who does that stuff, so I have no excuse.
I hope you are able to stay toasty warm all day regardless. May I recommend one of Face’s warm hugs? They’re marvy.
w/b. I’ hope you didn’t get too citified.
Speaking from experience, that stuff’s hard to get off.
I was born in the country (in Reno, at a time when NV had barely 250,000 people in the entire state,) moved to Alaska at six weeks, grew up in Central Utah which was where my dad was born, and though I was a military wife for 30 years, and managed to function in the cities, I have always been a country girl.
The next presents to myself will be cowboy boots and maybe a pair of moccasins. And some jeans...it’s time for more jeans, now that I’m losing weight!
“Kittie doesnt buy what you iz saying, Mr. Prezdent.”
Kittie has KLAZZ!
I’ve lived quite a few places myself and would like to think I still have America’s core values at heart. But I can’t pick up all the trash I see or I’d never get any where. I can’t smile and say “hello” to people when I pass them on the street or I’d get hauled away.
I’m waiting until I can move and hope I can remember how decent people behave.
Everyone must be suffering from the storms. No one has posted since this morning and I’m getting concerned for all the FRiends back east.
I'm here 'n there.
And cringing everytime I hear the furnace come on. Which is quite frequently (and the projected low tonight is -4° F.. :-)
Last completed project was uncrustifying the humidifier wick. It could only manage to get the relative humidity up to 31%. Seems it had developed its own personal limestone quarry.
Of course, it now smells slightly of acetic acid...
Thanks for checking in! I feel almost guilty with 70 degrees, even with the cloud cover... *blush*
Been a blargtastic day here.
No weather crud here, yet.
Fine here. Elen’s been on the computer all day doing math. She has to finish Algebra I by the 28th, or she won’t be allowed to work at summer camp.
Algebra, my ancient enemy..
