Is the Left slowly killing off McDonald’s?

Dan Thompson is on his way out the door as CEO of fast food giant McDonald’s. This is not terribly surprising, since the Golden Arches have turned in some poor numbers compared to their competitors for a while now. There are a few reasons for this, some of which came as a surprise to me, as outlined by my friend Stephen Green (a.k.a. Vodkapundit). One big factor which doesn’t seem to make a lot of news is that the primary component of burgers is beef, and the cost has been on the rise.

We eat burgers a couple of times a week but always with a coupon. Burger King, McD’s and this we find the best http://m.rallyshamburgers.com/ Just take a look at their menu. Every day a deal at Rally's. Check out the Rally's burgers.

I avoid businesses which ignore me and advertise to 12% of the population.

Amen! For me it was reminding them that they forgot to put lettuce on a sandwich and what they put on it looked like they picked it up off the floor after the staff had been walking on it all day. I dropped it on their window, drove away and never been back except a breakfast sandwich maybe when everyone else was busy and I was in a hurry.

Besides, I live in Iowa. We do cows out here (in case you all in Rio Linda didn't know that :)) I visited a friend at a place where they sell cattle and he pointed to three and said know what they are? Those are going to McDonald's.

3 of the mangiest most sickly and horrible 4 legged critters you ever seen that they could get on the cheeeeep. One even had two eyes of different colors.

No. I don't do McD's. I'll do ANYBODY but McD's.

Bring back the fried apple pie: perhaps the best thing ever.

Ah, that is sad. They are perfect cows for a pet farm. Can make money for years while urban people pay to bring their children to a pet farm.

I guess the only difference is in Nevada, they are paying for it!

Straight from the rules:
“Upon the completion of a Lovin’ Act by an unofficial winner and verification of any eligibility requirements to the Lovin’ Lead’s satisfaction, the unofficial winner will be deemed an official winner of one (1) Prize. If the official winner has already placed an Order at the counter at the time they are notified they are an unofficial winner, the Lovin’ Lead will award the Prize by processing the official winner’s Order so that no monetary payment is required to complete the register transaction. “

Don’t Burger King, Wendy’s, In-and-Out, Five Guys, Whataburger and many others use beef as their primary ingredient? How are they doing?

Kind of takes the hot air out of their argument doesn't it.

Alas, I think McDonald's needs to get out of the McCafe business--that part of McDonald's is turning into an expensive financial sinkhole because they were not successful in attracting people away from Starbucks or convenience stores with upgraded coffee offerings like 7-Eleven in the last 15 years.

Add to that - most of it is really unhealthy.

Just way to many options today for them to complete.

The publication "Beef" a beef industry periodical states that McDonald's is the beef industry's largest customer, purchasing 2% of the worlds supply.

I guess they're buying all that beef for some other purpose, I know they must be in league with Dr. evil. Facts will never get in the way of elitist clowns though, will it?

Silly rabbit it’s an ad and as honest and truthful as all of obama’s ads, or anyone elses including Mickey D’s!

You are the one being silly. While Walter Mondale co-opted the catchphrase “Where’s the Beef” for his campaign again Gary Hart in 1984, this was actually a very effective ad campaign for Wendy’s, showing the difference between their comparatively hefty hamburgers to those of McDonalds, which were pretty sad at the time - and even sadder today.

The improvement of the American pallet that’s been going on since the early 90s has finally filtered down to fast food.

LOL that's a good way to sum it up. Anyone remember Hardee's?

Seems to me the last several years is all the do is market to black people. Honestly I see the ads and they don’t want me going there.

Yup the the Wendy’s patty? 1.78oz. the McDonalds regular hamburger patty 1.6oz., your right Wendys patty was HUGE, I mean comparatively hefty compared to a McDonald’s patty! Reality and advertising campaigns, if you really think their the same, well...........

Yes. The left is racist and don’t want a black man as CEO of McDonalds.

I pretty much agree....McDonalds has the worst fries of any franchise operation.

But I would also suggest....make the McRib a normal choice and nost something that appears for 60 days out of the year. Also, you had a great morning snack with the pudding/nuts cup (reasonably priced as well) and they got rid of it. Finally, a number of competition players have premium burgers (for a hefty price)....it’s time to consider the idea and at least try it at some locations (the $12 burger).
