Great old music. The introduction is quite long before the lyrics. I was beginning to think that there weren’t any.

Thanks for posting that. I especially like the vocal arrangement. This was a hit for a number of acts in the early spring of ‘28.

I like Herb Wiedoeft too. His band has such a nice, lilting sound. Items like “Swing Along” and “Trianon.” I guess that was the style of the west coast bands. Always reminds me of the background music to the old Hal Roach shorts of the early-30s. Wiedoeft’s earlier (acoustic) version of “Cinderella Blues” from 1923 is a favorite of mine.

But isn’t Coon-Sanders “Sluefoot” from 1927? I used to make my own 90-minute cassette tapes for listening, devoted to individual years, and recall that one on my 1927 tape. Such a surreal recording. When I’ve played it for people, it always seems to flummox them. It’s just so quirky, and harshly vibrant, in a variety of ways.

"Sluefoot" was recorded in December, 1927 at the Hotel Baltimore in Kansas City, but judging from the serial number on the record, it was apparently released sometime in the early months of '28.
