The only thing the local cop did wrong was not come with a swat team in that part of town.

The perp had previously threatened his ex-girlfriend with this pistol already. The perp then shows up at this wedding uninvited with his pistol. He ran, pulled his weapon fumbling and dropping it, picked it up again and ran some more. The cop did exactly as he should, very likely saving the girl’s life. Even the locals on the scene were satisfied, after all, they are the ones that called the cops in the first place.

As you know I’m not a pro cop kind of guy. But this shooting was justified. The preacher had called 911 and said the kid had a gun. I’m surprised the cop didn’t have his gun drawn when he first approached the kid.

It’s hard to see the gun in the video but the cop saw it. I always wonder why cops shoot so many times. I assume it’s adrenaline and fear. If someone breaks into my home I’ll do the same thing to make sure the thief is down.

Finally, I guarantee that cop was a hell of a lot better shot that the kid would have been. To hit the target from that distance with a pistol and under duress is remarkable.
