Friends, it's Sunday night again and time to relax. Warm up the tubes for another 4 hours of classic radio Americana.
Info *tonight's show will be available at the "Info" link starting tomorrow.
Official OTR blog of "The Big Broadcast" thread:
It’s still early in the game, and it’s only a 7-point game. Maybe...
“That no-good, slack-jawed...” I must steal that. Just wish I could’ve understood the last word he said in that description. :-)
I missed it too, but there’s always the replay. Kind of a weak ending.
Yeah, it was. BUT, “Sing, Sing, Sing” is one of my favorite tunes. I really love Benny Goodman’s version of it.
Yea this is great stuff.
Evening, folks. Just popping in and out - the AFC game is on this evening. Go Colts!
Hey Viking. Did you see Gina’s radio?
Oh, gads! That WAS Benny Goodman’s version. I thought it sounded like it but missed Ed saying it. I only heard him say it was Louie Prima’s song, which it was. No wonder it sounded so much like Goodman. HA!
Hi, Viking! We’re rooting for the underdogs, too.
We did get that radio we mentioned the other week. It needs a LOT of work. Keith’s been watching You Tube videos all day showing a guy meticulously restoring the finish on ones he has.
Yes, I did! It was beautiful! That is going to be a centerpiece of the room, I’m sure. I think everyone in this list should buy at least one classic tube radio. I was fretting about how to start doing some refinishing of the wood on mine. I want to restore it as original as possible, including saving the factory finish. (There were scuffs on the top where it had various pots and knickknacks placed over the decades.) Mrs. Viking threw caution to the wind and started to give it a very gentle cleaning, restaining, and polishing with Old English and a soft cloth, and I’m absolutely floored by the results. We’re cleaning the guts of it with soft paintbrushes and cans of power duster to start. Then, I start buying new tubes, a couple knobs, and new decals. I just smile every time I look at it, and I’m sure Gina does with hers. It almost makes you feel like a proud parent. LOL
HA! Yes, but this is Keith’s baby. He can tell you about his research into refinishing. :-)
BTW, the Colts look like sacrificial lambs. 38-7, Pats. It's a bloodbath there.
Yeah, Vision was right back in the first quarter when it was 14-7. :-(
45-7 with ten minutes left on the clock. The Pats look unstoppable - they put the total package on the field tonight. The Seahawks are gonna have their hands full, especially if they play the Pats the way the played the Packers. A fourth quarter rally won’t cut it against New England.
Nope. It’ll be a game to watch, for sure!
I like this guy. You can check out his videos. This is 35 parts but he is a good teacher.

What you what do you think of Whitehall? I like it.
Oh, good grief, Vision! I missed it! Mom called, and I was doing several other things besides. I’ll have to hear it on the replay, if I can remember to listen.
I think you’d like the program spycatcher
