The last installment of “The Hobbit” was disappointing. Glad to see that it wasn’t nominated for anything but sound.

Of course “Selma” will win best picture. Dig up a 50-year old incident involving white (mostly democrats, by the way) racists to help fan the flames of the present race war (where accusations of racism are not justified by the facts). How can a liberal Oscar judge pass up this opportunity for (misplaced) activism?

There’s been a pretty big backlash against Selma. It’s not going to win.

Agree. Selma is this years version of 12 Years A Slave. Regardless of the quality of the movie , the politically correct subject matter makes it a leading Oscar contender.

Really doubt “Selma” is going to win. Either it will be “Birdman” or “Boyhood”. The former because it is a parody of all those action hero movies. The later because it won best drama at the Golden Globes and those who vote in the Oscars go with what took place at Golden Globes.

“Selma” will not win because folks have had enough of the playing of the old, beat-up race card stuff.

Dark horse winner is “American Sniper”.
