Bored youts. Remember a few months ago the video that went viral showing a NYC “yout” luring a cat with a treat and proceeding to field goal kick the cat? Same people here, I’d bet.
Didn’t the Chicago fire start from a critter aflame? Or maybe it was the burning of London Bridge?

Not really. My idiot that had an encounter with a candle was named Caroline. We put her out after chasing her through the house. She only had some singed fur. Both she, and we, were lucky.

Mrs. O’leary’s cow kicked the lantern over that started the Great Chicago Fire, or so the story goes...............

Our cat walked too near a lit candle on a dining table and caught her tail on fire. Luckily we saw it happen as she ran under a bed. I put the tail fire out by grabbing her tail with my hand and running my hand down it. That sucker sure burned fast. I can’t imagine a grease covered flaming cat running through the house.

Cats do not ordinarily catch on fire. Unless maybe they’re on a hot tin roof?

Poor kitties. Cats do like pork chops, a lot! I had a cat catch his tail on fire when he walked across the counter near the gas stove. (No he was not supposed to be on the counter, but you know how well cats listen). Anyway, I did manage to put his tail out before any harm was done to him or the house. Could have been bad.

If not, I suspect mendacity!

“Didnt the Chicago fire start from a critter aflame?”
The legend was that Mrs. O’Leary’s cow kicked over an oil lamp and set the barn on fire.
