I am reminded of General Napoleon Bonaparte's reaction to the revolt in Cairo during his Egyptian Campaign. The French thought they were in charge in Cairo until a widespread Muslim revolt broke out. One of Bonaparte's friends (who was one of his aide-de-camps) was killed and his body was thrown into a pit of dogs to be devoured. The French retaliated and the surviving muslims took sanctuary in the Mosque. Bonaparte gave the curt order: "Exterminate all within the mosque". The French turned their cannon on the mosque and killed the inhabitants.
That was the end of the revolt in Cairo. There is only one thing the muslims respect: power. The may go jihad on us from time to time, and throughout history a good ass-whipping has usually mollified them for 50 years or so. Unfortunately, we have reached a point in which the type of crushing blow that is needed to break their spirit is not forthcoming.
