A HuffPo interview with Duck Dynasty couple Al and Lisa Robertson has gone viral after the TV family member said that she was pro-choice, but regrets her abortion at 16 years-old.
Lisa now says that her words are being taken the wrong way because, she says, she opposes abortion and is, pro-choice only when its Gods choice.
Nancy Redd spoke with the couple about their book, A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption and specifically covered the section of the book where Lisa speaks about her abortion.
The questions were no doubt leading. Lisa appears to regret her abortion and even Redd acknowledged that she had repented of the abortion.
Redd asked Lisa, When you look at that choice and that option dont you think that every woman should have that choice and that ability?
Lisa responded by telling Redd that not a day goes by that she doesnt think about her baby, At the time that was the answer that I sought. As I sit here today, thats not the answer I would have chosen had I known better, had I been more mature in my thinking.
Lisa told Redd that she doesnt feel like she should have had that choice and that, God is the only Person that has the choice to take a life, or to bring into the world a life.
It was after that statement that Redd asked her if she would consider herself pro-choice.
Lisa paused for a few seconds and then responded, Yes, I would.
If you watch the entire interview you will scratch your head on how a woman who so adamantly regretted her abortion could call herself pro-choice.
For pro-lifers this is puzzling. Her words do not match what she actually stated. But, one has to take her at her word. Unless, of course, you realize that most people are not that media savvy. HuffPo on the other hand drives an abortion agenda. So anything they can grasp to make a Duck Dynasty woman appear pro-choice is a win win for their ideology.
The question haunted me for hours, until I did some checking online.
I discovered that Lisa felt she was entrapped by the HuffPo interviewer and what Lisa meant by saying she was pro-choice was that she was for Gods choice, at least that is what she said in clarification on her Facebook page.
Dear Friends, please be in prayer for me today. I am fretful over the interview with HuffPostLive yesterday. I am pro-choice only when its Gods choice. I was so flustered over her questions & just wasnt aware that she was trying to trap me. Call me naive. I had an abortion @ 16 & I clearly stated that it was a decision that Ive regretted all my life. I also stated that I thought God was the only person qualified to take a life because he made the life. Maybe I will get to minister to people who otherwise would shut me out but I am clearly pro-God & pro-life. I hate entrapment but failed to see it happening.
Watch the interview here and judge for yourself.
That’s a good one, “I’m pro-choice when it’s God’s choice.” Excellent.
I can only assume she meant if a woman miscarries, then God did not mean for that child to be born, and it would not be our place to question that. She clearly stated that only God can decide that.
From the article:
“... and what Lisa meant by saying she was pro-choice was that she was for Gods choice, at least that is what she said in clarification on her Facebook page. “
That’s kind of the way I understood it as well.
Why are conservatives, especially not too bright ones, submitting to interviews with leftist agenda driven outlets?
She said no way; I was angry at her.
We had a healthy baby girl.
When I did finally find Jesus and was led to the Truth, I cried for days over my self-centeredness but was granted forgiveness both by my wife and the Lord.
Our daughter is a beautiful, successful businesswoman now.
Just wish she'd find the right guy and give me some Grandkids :-)
Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks for posting!
Your post is poignant.
That kind of self-centeredness clings to us all and always, even if not so pronounced. The grace and gifts of God so far exceed our imagination as to be inconceivable. In your case, before you even asked or thought about it, the gift and grace was/is your dear wife, who was blessed with a keener sense at the time of what is good and right.
The LORD grant steadfast faith to you and your family, and bless you with grandchildren as He is inclined to bless.
Thanks for your willingness to share that.
The Grace of GOD is overwhelming!
John 1:17 Amplified Bible
17 For while the Law was given through Moses, grace ([a]unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.
First thing that jumped out at me. Did they not learn anything after Phil’s interview with GQ? HuffPo is worse! Did she naively think that they were going to let her use them to spread God’s love and forgiveness and NOT get something out of it for their agenda?
I believe its part of many publishing contracts that you agree to promote the book in the media. The publisher may have some power under such a clause to dictate which media outlets are used to promote the book.
It is hard to find a man that measures up to daddy
she is trying to evangelize and is a regular person. God uses all for good. Keep trying miss.
