The three topics that shouldn't be brought up in polite conversation: Politics, Religion, and Sex.

We see the religious arguments here daily, Sex and relationships is clearly a mine field -- the politics we handle pretty well here, but still everyone is either too Liberal or else too much of an ideological purist.

And that's why it's always safe to talk about the weather. (It's cold and windy where I am.)

And by the way -- my Mother-in-Law can say, "Look at how blue the sky is!" And I can reply: "Yup, that's a real pretty blue sky." And she will reply, "What are you talking about??? There's a cloud over there by those trees!! Honestly!!"

Because some people are just like that.
