Some great reading! Good first hand stuff here on the level of Selco's post, but this from one of our own.

If they’re gonna be using 9mm, they at least shouldn’t be running FMJs.

One of my favorite old tag lines I saw somewhere.
"A 9mm may expand, but a .45 won't shrink."
If'n I'm gonna be heaving slow rocks, I'd just as soon they be heavier. d;^)

Thanks for the post, Kartographer. Good read.
For my part, I’ll hang onto my 1911’s. I’ve used/carried them for many years. Only thing I add is an ambi safety, as I shoot left-handed, and hard rubber grips.

Oh yeah.... Forgot about the banning of expanding/frangible ammo in ‘professional war’... (lol)

Given that no pistol is a "death ray", doing whatever you can to increase your odds is always adviseable. But if the boss says I get an M9 with FMJ, then I just have to make it work.
To: Kartographer
Excellent.
Thanks.

Hows a 9mm JHP work compared to a 9mm FMJ.

Another barter item is imported alcohol. Hard and expensive to get in a shtf but still sought after.

Much better. A great 9mm jhp seems to be almost as good as a 45 jhp. But for ball ammo, 45 is way way better.

Yeah, my wife doesnt have the strength for a .45 though. Going to have her try a .40 but probably going to a 9mm. Have a new M&P Shield .40 which she likes.

If theyre gonna be using 9mm, they at least shouldnt be running FMJs. While I fully agree..., it is my understanding that the arcane "Geneva Convention" requires FMJ rounds! Bizarre since fragmentation grenades and countless other far lethal weapons are "OK"!
