Moms Demand Action Founder: We Win by Bypassing Congress

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America founder Shannon Watts said that more gun control is needed and the path to securing it includes bypassing Congress.

Watts suggested the pro-Second Amendment landslide in the midterm elections is not really a hindrance to her group’s goals. She also stated that just as no one gave up on immigration–even through it faced a tough road in Congress–no one should give up on gun control, either.

Obama secured amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants by bypassing Congress and handling the issue on his own.

According to Salon, Watts also drew parallels with “gay marriage,” saying the methods gay marriage supporters used to circumvent Congress are methods the gun control movement can use to win. She said, “If you look at how the acceptance of gay marriage came to be in this country, it was just like this; this is pretty much the playbook.” That playbook includes “bypass[ing] Congress,” pressuring corporations, and going “straight to the state legislatures.”

And when the state legislatures rebuff Moms Demand Action, Watts made clear that her group will try to bypass them, as well, via ballot initiatives like Washington state’s I-594.

If they can’t do it honest and legal they’ll do it dishonest and illegal.

Leftists are anti-constitution totalitarians at heart. They end up eliminating anyone with whom they disagree every time.

Enjoy your authoritarian state, America.

They won the ballot initiative I-594 in WA. I think it is being taken to court though.

What Mom’s Demand Action fails to realize is that at some point 90 million gun owners may decide to bypass Congress. :-)

A) She is on the losing side of public opinion, especially trending public opinion.

B) Gun owners are perfectly happy to contribute heavily to political action on the issue.

C) Gun owners are organized, vocal, and focused, much to the consternation of the elites :)

Possibly dishonest, but what’s illegal about their plan?

I agree completely with Shannon. More gun control is needed.

That’s why I spend time at the range; learning how to control my gun. Practice makes perfect. One can never have too much gun control.

This is the mindset of my own mother. Extremely liberal and adores Obama. When there is something she doesn’t like her reaction is “someone should make that illegal.” Or one day, I brought up the name Rush Limbaugh and she said he should be arrested for opening his mouth despite NEVER listening to anything he said. But what can you expect from a liberal whose only source of news is The View.

I would love to see the ol bypass congress thang regarding 2nd amendment issues. Pretty sure there is a line one must consider very carefully before crossing.

In other words, they plan on using the election fraud machine of America's indigenous urban peoples to pass anti-gun initiatives at the state level.

The hallmark of the fraud machine of America's indigenous urban peoples is that black voting precincts wait until all the results from other precincts are in to gauge how many fraudulent votes they need to inject to win.

Some people love the “it’s the law!” mantra. I tell them that a truly mature person recognizes that if some politicians pass a law that is immoral or unjust, one does not have to advocate or abide it. Unfortunately, many people never reach that maturity.

Of course it may not be a good idea to say to your mom, lol.

just like homo ‘marriage’ .. voted against by overwhelming majorities in almost all states... then overruled by a single fed judge because they didn’t like the result

why the hell did we have an election? to keep up the pretense?

I truly have sympathy for you. No offense, but, how often have you thought to yourself ‘how on Earth did I grow up to NOT think so blindly and illogically as her?’.

Goes back to one of my understandings from the Old Testament how every son or daughter - every person - stands or falls in Life, and is accountable before the Lord as an individual, not as a clone of their parents.

You’re here on FR! Makes my point!
