None-the-less, Chevy kept the filler hidden but moved it to a place behind a concealed door in the trim work the following year.

That’s cool. I love old Chevys, mostly trucks, but I’ve never seen the hidden gas fillers before. I’ll bet they moved it to the trim due to excessive wear on the wiring and bulbs rather than a safety concern.
