We have two Ruku3 devices and both are now over heating and require frequent rebooting. (Unplug the power and re-plug) we’ve run them off of AC and USB power. USB power worked great for about a week, then it also needed rebooting just like with AC power.

We now use the Wii U for NetFlix.

My computers all have Amazon Prime and Netflix also. That and primewire.ca is enough.

IMO, I think Ruku3 is not ready for primetime.

So far we haven’t had a problem. (cross-fingers)

There are easy fixes available on the net to fix the oveheating problem. We had that problem with our Roku 2, none with our Roku 3.

I fixed our Roku 2 by adding a heatsink on top of the processor and cutting away a bit of the case to expose the heatsink and release the heat outside the case. The heatsink was about $2 from my local Radio Shack and a $1 tube of thermal compound to affix the heatsink to the Rokus processor. 15 minutes start to finish to complete the “repair” and it’s worked flawlessly since.
