In Germany, the birthrate has sunk to just 1.36, worse even than low-fertility Spain (1.48) and Italy (1.4). Western Europe as a whole will most likely shrink from 460 million to just 350 million by the end of the century. And barring dramatic reversal of the foolish One (sometimes Two) Child Policy, Chinas population will be reduced in half.
Even the USA where a large immigrant Hispanic population immigration has kept birth rates higher, is now facing reduction. A Pew Research Center report found that immigrant births fell from 102 per 1,000 women in 2007 to 87.8 per 1,000 in 2012, to bring the overall US birthrate to a mere 64 per 1,000 womennot enough to sustain current population. Europe, in short, is dying off, China and Russia, and the United States as well.

This should make liberals very happy!
It wouldn’t be such a financial drain on working families if they weren’t supporting non-working partial families and/or illegal aliens.
I’m a conservative and it makes me happy. Well, the global numbers at least. We’re trapped into a perceived economics that requires ever larger numbers to provide Ponzi support to our growing number of retirees (and those who otherwise can’t or choose not to work).
But the more our global numbers continue to grow the harder it eventually is to provide everyone with the advanced standard of living we’re accustomed to, and the more reason for global governmental control, rationing, etc..
That people, as seen in developed countries, ultimately voluntarily choose on average smaller families is a good thing, considering that we’re still increasing our global poor, especially, at a daunting rate.
We just have to wrap our heads around evolving free-market economic models.
11Thus I will punish the world for its evil And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless.
12I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold And mankind than the gold of Ophir.
13Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth will be shaken from its place At the fury of the LORD of hosts In the day of His burning anger.
Don't know the applicability to the coming end times - I just find it interesting.....
I think an overall lower population, where people have room to spread out and live (in places worth living), would be dandy. I think the danger is that technology (automation) and culture will conspire to discourage reproduction. However, I don’t think that trend will last forever and certainly don’t think the human race will disappear because of it.
When Obamacare takes full effect and the death panel get into high gear people will really begin to disappear and the earth. Will be saved!
The human sex drive being what it is, i don’t think we’ll be “endangered” any time soon.

Yeah, we’ve still got massive population growth projected in major parts of the developing world for decades to come, so that worry would seem to be a ways away.
Considering you could take the population of the whole world and fit them all in the state of Texas and the density would be the same as the city of Houston, we’re certainly not overpopulated by an stretch of the imagination.
What is unbelievable is the ignorance of people who believe that the world is overpopulated and the lack of faith of the atheistic in that category. The atheistic people have shown they will believe anything, but it is quite telling how the atheistic prefer the culture of death to the culture of life...quite telling indeed.
I think that, eventually, someone will be able to create technology that allows the brain to experience simulated sex that is indistinguishable from the real thing. Thinnk online porn on steroids. When that happens, a lot of the motivation to procreate with actual women will disappear.
That’s a popular science fiction trope as well. when fantasy or simulated reality become as real as acual reality, societies enter into a period of decline. People increasingly disappear into their fantasies and forget how to deal with reality.

Have you ever seen the movie, “Children of Men” (2006)?
Movie trailer

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_of_Men
The premise of the movie is that women have been infertile for 20 years for an unknown reason.
How about making a movie where the women simply choose not to have children?
According to this wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_growth
“Global human population growth amounts to around 75 million annually, or 1.1% per year.”
It’s expected to hit 9.6 billion by 2050 if the current growth rates stays the same.
Except the difference is that we are close to making that happen.
Think about how many people already lose themselves in games like World of Warcraft.
Anyway, it likely won’t happen within my lifetime.
I'm not sure that's correct...but that's what I read...
Your views are the views of a leftist. You need to get your mind right.
That is a completely fascinating way to frame it. Did you do the calculation, or read it somewhere? I just related that to my wife, and she couldn't imagine how that could be true, but I have to calculate that now!
Yeah, it's not like there are any pharmaceutical or even mere mechanical methods of thwarting the intended purpose of our natural drive to procreate. /s
Regards,
But doesn’t capitalism require growth to work? A company that makes and sells widgets needs to sell more every year, right?
