HAYDEN, IdahoEmployees evacuated the Hayden Walmart on Tuesday following a shooting inside the store.
Authorities on the scene around 11:15 a.m. described the shooting as "accidental."
A woman was shopping with four kids, when one of the kids reached into her purse and accidentally discharged the weapon, according to Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputies at the scene.
The gunshot killed the 29-year-old woman. Deputies on scene said the child who accidentally fired the handgun was about 2-years-old.
Deputies said the woman and children were in the back of the store near the electronics area when it happened. Deputies said the woman was in town for holidays and is not from the area.
Video surveillance in the store, along with eye witness testimony helped deputies determine that this was an accident.
Authorities said the woman did have a concealed weapons permit.
The store is currently closed.

I just bought a new S&W shield .40, woo hoo
Very good points. Sad situation that will hopefully encourage more women CCw to use bra holsters or such.
We need to pass a law prohibiting 2 year olds from shooting guns.
Yeah, see that makes more sense. I don’t have a 1911 type pistol. I have a manual safety but the first shot is a double action.
I thought the safeties for the 1911s were in the back grip. I know so many different places make 1911 styles I would guess then there are some that don’t do this?
Which is why I check my glock every time I pick it up or put it down.
EVERY GUN should be treated as if its loaded. You should not trust a safety.
Pretty basic gun safety.
The crime rate in Idaho doesn’t warrant a chambered round in your pocketbook gun.
Anyone with a pocket full of change or keys would set them off!
The first problem is she appears to not have it in a holster. Then she failed to control access to it.
So very sad for all concerned.
Of course they will, --as they should!
This type of carelessness pisses me off to no end and like it or not, reflects negatively on the entire concept of CCW. This is the kind of crap that anti-gunners tell us is going to happen when we pass CCW laws. And now they get to shout it from the rafters.
It could have been my wife or my kids standing next to her in line. People who carry loaded guns in public need to exercise 100% absolute vigilance at all times. The only good from the amount of mileage in the press that this story WILL receive is that hopefully it will make other CCW'ers think, "that could've been me. I need to be more careful."
With four children around, if this woman’s handgun had no safety feature SHE IS AN IDIOT, NOW A DEAD IDIOT.
I just find this hard to believe.
The Glock "safety" is actually on the trigger (which is to say it is not a safety at all).
I like a revolver for concealed carry. Reliable, easy to use. Why does a Mom carry a semi-auto pistol instead of a revolver?
Possibly to defend herself and her kids against four thugs attacking her in a parking lot. 17 rounds is better than 6 in a scenario like that. (Just my two cents worth.)

So does my wife. I gave a S&W .38spl Bodyguard to her and she loves it.
just keep 1 round in your pocket and only load it when you need it. /s
A Kahr PM45 is not a 1911 clone. Entirely different design.
Hammerless, 5 shot mag, with a round in the chamber it is ready to go! It does have a little longer trigger pull which acts as a little bit of a “safety” if you want to call it that. Put a trigger guard mounted Crimson Trace Lg-434 on it and you have a real “Crime Stopper”!
Truly sad situation regardless of how it happened. Hopefully others can learn from this.
Dreadful. RIP.
