Tombstone [AMC] live thread
American Movie Classics ^ | 12-26-14 | Wyatt Earp

I really like this movie. Strange that two other Russell movies are high on my list as well. Used Cars (pretty high) and Escape from New York (on the list).

While everyone likes to say Kilmer took over this movie - everyone was great. Everyone.

Pic he posted to twitter in August. He looks like he’s lost more than I weigh.

Do they even still sell VHS players anymore?

Walmart has a DVD/VHS player/recorder for $160. For some reason I have three of those hanging around my home. I bought a nice capture card for one of my computers and used one of the players to capture all of our home videos. I have no idea what to do with them now except maybe sell them on EBay.

I’ve noticed how many middle aged guys tend to grow beards to cover up their multiple chins. It seems to work pretty well.

Thankfully, I haven’t had that problem myself.....Yet

I bought a Toshiba DVD/VHS player/ recorder around 1995. It was on clearance for $19.00. It is really light, probably no more than a couple of pounds. I have a box of old VHS tapes and get out a couple every six months or so.

I still have 7 or 8 VCRs and they still work. I have noticed that I have to run a cleaning tape almost every time I play one. My first one was a Sony which I purchased around 1982 for $600. It was marked down from $1200. It was extremely heavy, probably thirty or forty pounds. It still works tho a couple of features no longer do. It has a wired remote.

If you look on Wikipedia at the pics of Mark Twain and at the new pic of Kilmer and imagine a little facial hair in the right places...a great match. Now if he can get the sarcasm and wit of Twain...one hell of a movie.

In another 30 or 40 years there won’t be anyone left who ever met a WWI veteran. The last WWII Vets will be gone before that.
