As with so much evolutionary thought, this begs the question of chicken-and-the-egg. Does the mussel species develop the trait of attracting predatory fish first? Or do the mussel young develop the trait of requiring access to fish gills first? Or do both traits need to spring into existence simultaneously?
Evolution requires more faith than I possess. I'll stick with the Bible. It's far more believable.

the religious see miracles of God, the scientists see miracles of Nature and the two sides proceed to argue about God versus Nature, rather than recognize that what they agree on - that it’s all a miracle.
