I thought it was funny, sophomoric, ok to watch at home but wouldn't go to the big screen to see it. Mostly a slapstick comedy with no redeeming social value. Are you talking about the movie, or Kim Jong-un?

The North Koreans haven’t taken you out yet? Little Kim will be very angry with you!

A few tweaks and it could have been much better. Wasted a bit of potential but worth a watch on cable at least.

In other words it is the kind of movie I avoid, even if the theme is something that might interest me.

Watching it now. I can see why Sony was worried about it bombing

Watching “Christmas Vacation” for the 25th consecutive year tonight. Still a lot funnier than this movie probably was the first time.

I didn’t know a comedy needed redeeming social value. I thought only pornography needed redeeming social value. So if this movie needs redeeming social value and is corny does that make in the genre of cornography?
I would suggest that killing Kim Jung Un would be a redeeming social value.

I saw it and laughed out loud several times. It’s a Franco - Rogen movie so don’t expect Shakespeare.

That was my take from the previews.
I got no axe to grind with Sony or Kim.
It just looks uninteresting.

I have a funny feeling the Koreans had no interest in this movie; maybe knew nothing about it at all. My suspicion is the final edit was lacking any reason for people to go see it, so they dreamed up this stunt to recap the money they spent.
(no, I haven't seen it)

Curious about so-called conservative values shared in thread pointing to watching pirated versions of the movie free instead of respecting Sony and its artists by paying for it. Nice values.
