We went to the linked theater last Christmas season to “It’s a Wonderful Life” on the big screen. It is definitely one of the best but “The Quiet Man” deserves an honorable mention.

The greatest movie ever made, one I quote from on an almost daily basis, is Airplane!

And don't call me Shirley...

What complicates determining “the best,” is that it’s looking at the movie as a whole, when in fact some of the parts of a movie may be the best moments ever, but the movie as a whole has structural or other problems.

My favorite movie moments occur in “The Big Lebowski.”

Yes. Arguable the best movie ever made. It was a sleeper when released.

Some may not consider my film choice worthy of the title "Best Film" due to my least favorite element in the story -- the goofy angel.

The fool is a necessary character in all great literature. Shakespeare executes the character brilliantly. George Lucas murders it - or at least should (Jar Jar).

There Will Be Blood. An absolute master class in acting from Daniel Day Lewis.

There are a couple of really good Christmas movies - one came out a couple of years ago, “A Christmas Hope” is being shown on Lifetime Channel. The other one is brand new this year .. and is by far one of the very best, “Angels and Ornaments” (it’s in the schedule for this week on Hallmark - TWC’s Channel 123). I’ve recorded it and I keep watching it over and over .. the music is original and it is stunning .. I keep humming it all through the day.

As for my ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE: BEN HUR - I have the 1959 version on 4 discs. I usually get it out and re-play it at least once a year around Easter time.

Oh yeah, if people want to see a movie about the missile crisis in Cuba in 1962, there was a movie made in 1969 called “Topaz”.

The most enjoyable movie for me is 'North by Northwest'. Cary Grant was never better and Eva Marie Saint was hot.

Bit of trivia - Cary Grant was the first choice to play James Bond. The studio wanted a commitment to do a series of the films, but Grant would only commit to one.

Wow....had to go deep before any Freeper correctly identified the BEST movie ever made:

The Searchers

You want Christmas movies? Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life...

In that order.

Can I still say White Christmas or is that racist?
