Tis this season! George C. Scott stars in this superb version of Charles Dickens' classic tale of redemption and second chances. In English with Greek subtitles.

BTW, this will be the last movie I post this year, as I'm taking off the rest of December for family and to finish my letter to Santa (I'm asking him to bring Lena Dunham some clothes). I'll be back in early January.
Until then, I hope each and every one of you out there has a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Hanukkah! God bless!
Christmas and Hanukkah ping!

This is my very favorite version. Not only is Scott excellent, but Warner, Tiny Tim, the ghosts, Crachett - everyone is perfect.
And I agree with you on the Mr Magoo version. Those songs are earworms. I still remember the “We’re reprehensible - we’ll steal your pen - and pencible” song all these long years later.
Bttt
Don’t forget Blackadder’s Christmas Carol.

I agree completely. GC Scott was created to play two roles: Scrooge and Patton.
I watched for this version last year and was very disappointed that no one ever showed it--so I bought the DVD. Saw it a week ago, and now I might just have to watch it again! Bah Humbug!
Thank you and back atcha!
Agreed!
Problem is on TV, it is often getting cut up.
I remember seeing it new in ‘84. Excellent. Tiny Tim here is BY FAR the best such character - properly small, looks a bit sickly, yet so cute and sweet, and a great actor for such a little boy. Not those big pre-teens of the old films who seemed too well.
All the actors are great. The Spirits, and the main people whom Scrooge has offended.
Only problem - some bits of info left out, or too short. Such as, the potatoe connection with “dreaming” it all; how he knew that weird old woman in the future (she was housekeeper, but never shown prior); and how his sister died in childbirth (yes, they mention it, but too brief and too late).
But overall, I’ll take it as easily the best. And believe me, I am biased for things in the past before my time.
I think I've seen them all, but my favorite is still the one with Alastair Sim, a tradition from my own childhood! Thanks for posting!
