Lawsuit: Women at MLB office faced discrimination

NEW YORK — The highest-ranking Hispanic woman in a management position at Major League Baseball headquarters said in a lawsuit on Thursday she has faced discrimination there for two decades.

Sylvia Lind’s lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, seeks unspecified damages for what she describes as a failure by the league to consider, interview, appoint and promote qualified Hispanic women to managerial and executive positions. Lind, 48, says the league has created a hostile work environment for her because of her age.

But if she uses percentage of players ethnicity as a barometer, then 100% of the employees should be male according to her terms. From the article:

"Lind said Hispanics are underrepresented in the management level while baseball has a high percentage of Hispanic players. She said of 52 people who are vice-presidents or above only two are Hispanic and only 12 are women."

Well I guess it worked so well for the blacks....might as well give the latino women a shot at winning the lawsuit lottery.

Why on earth does she think the VP population should mirror the players? What the heck is that logic?

If she doesn’t like it there...and she is so worthy then she should have just gone someplace else.

The fact that 12 out of 52 MLB VPs are women could explain what is wrong with the game today. If 23% of management executives cannot understand normal thought, there are going to be many problems in any operation.

Now about Silvia Lind. Do they dislike her because she is "Hispanic," or because she is too old to play baseball? Or is it both? The only person who can sort this out is our beloved POTUS who has two daughters (somehow) who will face exactly this type of vicious discrimination in their MLB careers.

I used to assume that cases of discrimination against women in the workplace were true, because I’ve come up against that sort of cr*p myself, as a woman. But I have a SIL who is always yapping about the discrimination she faces at her workplace, who honestly is SO hard to get along with that I’m always secretly rooting for the other side. Wonder if this is that sort of case.

Shasta and Malaria might not have a chance in M.L.B. but if they grow a couple feet taller and turn into bull dykes, they could play in the W.N.B.A.
