My wife’s sister lives in southern Missouri.
When we visited, I was surprised at the amount of poverty.
Very similar to sections of Ky and WVa.

Really? Here in Texas they have nice newer pickup trucks and such. Next door neighbor has an Acura.

I saw a car in that condition in Texas once but it also had a lot of primer paint on it. And a bumper sticker that said “Proud to be Union”.
