Trying to remember my last positive experience with police... Still trying... Still trying...
Nope. I can’t recall one. I have never been arrested or convicted of a crime and haven’t had a traffic ticket since 1982, but I haven’t run into a pleasant police officer in recent memory. They all seem to have an us against them attitude.
The police where I live may beat your a$$ and ask questions later, but they tend to do that only with bad characters.
Police deal with the scummiest low down wretches of society. They see murders, rape victims, drug addicts and punks on a daily basis. Couldn’t pay me enough.
Maybe it's my suburban area, maybe it's the California Highway Patrol (CHP), maybe it was my respectful behavior. When pulled over for punching my Vette at the last of a toll road with no cars in sight, he asked me if there was a reason I was speeding. I said, "Not really". He said that's the first honest answer he had gotten in sometime.
Rather than a speeding ticket, he gave me a fix-it ticket for lacking a front license plate, which most Corvettes don't have. I thanked him for being "on the job" and we had a nice conversation about past military experiences.
Again, I live in south Orange County,CA which is not a crime bed. Still, I read more and more about overbearing cops who are too quick to enforce their authority. And if I read one more time where some cop shoots a harmless little doggie, I'm going to become an activist once again!
