Huh. Very apt description and reasoning - as a 54 year-old civilian, I have always liked the F-4. Becoming aware of these things during the Vietnam era is also a factor I am sure.
Aircraft in picture does not seem to be on AB.
It was just a shot of an F4 going vertical. I asked an aviation friend of mine if she had a picture of one and she sent that and I added it to the post.
Military planes interest me, but I am not way into it. So I pose to you guys about the F4....I’ve seen all the comments about flying brick and all that....what tactical advantage does it bring? If it supposedly occasionally beat F-15s, why did that happen? With its apparent disadvantages, why did we use it and what was it built for to accomplish?
This thread has brought back many happy memories, and a few scary ones!
