Surprise, surprise: North Korea is somewhat less than psyched about the upcoming Christmas release The Interview.
Whats not to love about a movie starring beloved comedians James Franco and Seth Rogen? Well, if youre North Korea, uh a lot of things. For starters, the movie is based on Rogen and Francos characters, a TV news duo, accepting an assignment to interview North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. Fun! Cool! Less cool, from North Koreas point of view: theyre also given an assignment from the CIA to kill him.
One wonders as well what North Korea thinks of the use of Katy Perrys Firework in the movie. Is that one of the utter distortions of truth this latest screed, condemning the unreleased movie, is talking about?
The Hollywood Reporter shares the statement, published under a pen name.
The cheekiness to show this conspiracy movie, which is comprised of utter distortions of the truth and absurd imaginations, is an evil act of provocation against our highly dignified republic and an insult against our righteous people, the statement reads.
The trashy filmmakers, who, won over by a few dollars thrown to them by conspirators, have compromised the dignity and conscience of filmmaking and dared to produce and direct such a film. They must be subject to our stern punishment.
Yowza.
Coming from a country that has starved several million of its own citizens.
They Didn't like Firework by Katy Perry Eh? Well I wonder what they would think of some of her (IMO Underrated) Songs like Hummingbird Heartbeat or Legendary Lovers

Shove it Norks :P
I just may go to it as well. I generally don’t bother with theater movie runs.
Nobody should like “Firework”. It should be an insult to call a man that. You burn brightly for a few seconds and then go out. lol
Those 2 are getting a combined $15 million.....
RE: Those 2 are getting a combined $15 million....
We would not have known their salaries had the North Koreans not HACKED into SONY’s computers and made the information known.
Funny, my wife felt about Idiocracy the way you feel about This is the End and Neighbors. Me, I loved Idiocracy, it is perfect satire. We both tolerated the two movies you disliked, but had difficulties with the excessively and gratuitously vulgar parts. We were lamenting the need for those scenes in what would otherwise be funny movies. It seems the younger crowd, the 20s and early 30s, like those kinds of movies, and are desensitized to the disgusting parts.
Point being, to each his own. I'm sure there was some old fuddy duddy saying the same things about Monty Python, Richard Pryor and Porky's back in the day.
Fair enough. But if that is your mindset, you really shouldn't go to movies, much less criticize.
Oh wow...NK calling us evil...yeah, depriving their citizens basic life and they call us evil....
I hope soon that entire regime falls and those nation can become one again - the great experiment in communism is a total failure...
South Korea has alot of energy right now - their folks are disciplined and family values still strong...I pray for the best for their people!
“Hummingbird Heartbeat”
Quite possibly the best pure ‘pop” song ever written. It is about perfect in it’s simplicity, has a monster hook for a chorus, absolute swagger to the melody and parents hate the lyrics.
Yes. I am completely serious. As much as I despise what she did to herself to further her career, the production team behind the Teenage Dream album, and Perry herself, deserve props for executing the whole thing perfectly. The whole album in general and that song specifically absolutely nails the mindset of the target audience and that is the very definition of ‘Pop”.
I guess with me, I don't mind violence, blood, etc..., but the biggest issue I had was that the comedy seemed forced. It didn't flow naturally. More than anything, I can't stand movies that have to resort to nothing but foul language and gratuitous vulgarity to get a laugh.
I'm not a prude, but a little goes a long way.
The F-word scene in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" is absolutely hilarious, because it has context and you can fully appreciate the situation.
Dropping 'em all over the place in a movie just because just doesn't work.
