The first Ayn Rand novel since the iconic "Atlas Shrugged" was published in 1957 will be released in hardcover and paperback on July 7, the New American Library, which is associated with Penguin Random House, announced Thursday.
Rand wrote the book, "Ideal" as a novel at first, but shelved the manuscript when she was not satisfied with it, and later rewrote it as a stage play. The play itself didnt have its New York premiere until 2010, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Thanks for the info.
Wonder what “life lessons” that offers.
“Ideal tells the story of a screen actress who is accused of murder and visits six of her most devoted fans to ask for help. In 1934, when she was in her late 20s, Rand first wrote Ideal as a work of fiction.”
FWIW I’ve read AS, The Fountainhead, and Anthem multiple times.
Do they all reject helping her because it isn't in their self interest?
John Galt approves.
Dittos for Owen Kellogg.
Rand ping.
“Atlas Shrugged” is, without doubt, my favorite book.
She was a bit of an a-hole narcissist in life, but she understood common human themes and portrayed them with great courage and imagination
On my list of favorites too, but it could have used some judicious editing.
Thanks. Just pre ordered it.
I’ll keep my eye out for more reviews of Ideal, and may order it.
AS is not my favorite book, but it’s outstanding nonetheless. Ill always own a copy.
Galt’s 20+ page deal near the end was a slog though.
It bugged me her protagonists were perfect specimens. While many of her theories rang true for me, I think her characters could/should have been more true-to-life. Not every hero is an Adonis/Aphrodite.
I’m an a**hole critic. I read a lot...which in no manner means I’m right.
Yeah that is where I had the issue. i am not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but I also had trouble with Dagny bedding every guy she wasn't a blood relative of.
I have no trouble with having sex in a story, but I think it should be used to move the story along, not just fill pages on an already overly long book.
Yeah, the sex scenes were a bit excessive.
For the longest time I was looking for how they fit into and related to Ayn’s theories other than me me me.
Couldn’t figure it out so gave up.
Personally, there are few authors I’m less inclined to read.
Just don’t think she was a very good writer.
And that’s on top of her godless, and therefore exceedingly bleak, objectivist views.
