sort of substance abuser or drunk

They sow a majority of people in a society with inborn guilt(being a male for example.) They force these people to atone for it. Not once. They continually arbitrarily invent new instance of infraction which those people atone for. They want to always keep them in short leash. They want to control your attitude, taste, and thinking.

Rule No. 1 to break yourself free: Do not feel guilty.

You know I think you have put your finger on the problem, being polite is one thing but collective guilt for the sin of existing is another matter altogether.

Thank you SO much for that! I needed your comment so much at this particular moment in time.

I just received a “Christmas card’ in the form of an email from a liberal cousin of mine. The “Card” was in the form of a YouTube link on which I eagerly clicked to be uplifted with a lovely Christmas message.

OK..the video started out nicely enough, with pretty pictures of babies in Santa hats and snowy cityscapes.

Then, suddenly, it quoted Jesus as he chased the money changers out of the temple, with the “Den of thieves” statement, and then proceeded with a slide show of every phony TV preacher and cult leader imaginable. Jim Jones, Jimmy Swaggert, Paul and Sandra Crouch, Benny Hinn, Al sharpton, NeoNazis, Westboro baptist, on and on and on, all the while playing a syrupy contemporary protest song that is supposedly about Christmas. It was definitely a “Hit Piece” on Evangelicals, as there were no pictures of abuses by other religions. I have never followed any of these guys, and I don’t consider them authentic Christians, so why would this guilt trip be directed at me? This was in response to a real Christmas card that i sent my cousin, complete with envelope and stamp, and this is what i got in return?

As you noted, my first impulse was to feel guilt, as i identify myself as an Evangelical.

Thank you for your excellent analysis of the situation!

Have a Blessed Christmas, FRiend!

You are so right. I never feel guilty about the world around me and my place in it.

It’s a religion, even up to and including Original Sin (being born white.)
