Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has won the appeal of his indefinite suspension against the NFL and is eligible to return immediately, according to people familiar with the matter.
Rice, who was indefinitely suspended in September after new evidence emerged in his domestic-violence case, can sign with a team immediately, though it isnt clear if a team will do so with just a month left in the season. Rice was cut by the Ravens in September. The appeal was heard by Barbara Jones, a former U.S. District Court judge.

There’s always Oakland.
Correct
Detroit needs a RB.
Thug life.
And I’m talking about the league AND the players.
Bill Cosby needs to get a ruling from this judge.
Well, so much for that “No More” ad campaign plastered all over the latest NFL games this weekend It was kind of weird, but it wasn’t a bad message - this development totally undercuts it.
(Unless no NFL team hires him. That would be good to see.)
NFL....National Felon League
Josh Brent came back
It’s not the like the NFL has high standards
Yeah, he would fit right in there!
Good for him. The NFL doesn’t have the right to increase the punishment just because the video of the punch surfaced. They knew what happened and meted out punishment. Then because of public outcry over the video, a new, more harsh punishment.

If the Buccaneers take him and he helps them win their last five games, they’ll be 7-9 and in the playoffs...
I’m sure there will be massive fan backlash with a drop in TV ratings, game attendance, and league revenue. Or not.
Had Blount not been cut by Pittsburgh, the Pats would have signed Rice.
Jets have massive cap room. I see them doing it. Saints? 49ers need some help right now to get to the playoffs. Will be interesting to see. He can get picked up, and frankly should. The prosecutors settled with him with a minor penalty. The NFL’s job is not to act as a second judicial system. Same with Peterson.
I agree Kabar. There is nothing unexpected about this decision. At this point, i’m not sure what the contractual obligations of the Ravens organization are to Ray Rice.
