That edited video doesn't really show what was going on.

[FULL] Hit-and-run driver smashes through crowd of Ferguson protesters and drags woman

Two separate videos of the incident shown in that video. You can see people mobbing the car and jumping on it before he makes any attempt to escape. Completely justified in fearing for his life.
