Affirmative Action been berry berry good to Elizabeth Warren.
A Chinese friend told me many years ago that Harvard discriminated against Orientals.
At first I thought Harvard's discrimination might be racially motivated but my friend thought if Harvard went strictly by qualifications they would have so many Orientals in the school it would affect the white alumni donations. - Tom
“The Harvard lawsuit also contends that the Ivy League university specifically limits the number of Asian Americans it admits each year.”
It was only a couple of generations ago that all top colleges, including Harvard, limited the number of JEWS that could attend. Seems they were worried about JEWS getting too much education, and thus too much wealth and too much power.
Back then they figured that JEWS wouldn’t be able to fight back - I guess the same for Asians now.
Leftist organizations in California fought for a law to restrict the number of Asians at state colleges. Leftist Asian organizations agreed to such restrictions but Asian people overwhelmingly did not.
In Australia they go by scores plus a points system - so you can add some points onto your score if you are Aboriginal, if English is not your first language etc but also funnily enough by postcode (Zip code to you) - if you come from what is deemed a lower socio-economic area you get extra points. It seems like nowhere has a purely merit based system anymore. So good luck getting any help if you are white and living in a reasonable suburb because your parents worked their butts off to make sure you had a good life!
Harvard needs to recall Bammy’s Degree.
Our school district is very heavily Asian. They just have no stigma about being too nerdy or smart. And they work their tails off because they are quite clear on the connection between work and material success and stability in adulthood.
Anybody who is reasonably smart could do what they do if they are willing to put in the extra hours. My son does, and he gets top grades in his Honors classes. His Asian classmates are amazed that they have to compete with the white kid, but they are very good-natured about it, and it is actually a good kind of peer-pressure that they exert on each other.
Also, years ago, when I was at Berkeley, they did a study on which ethnic group was most successful at the college. It was the Koreans. Not due to basic intelligence, but due to the custom of forming study groups and helping each other through tough classes. Sounds like a good plan for anyone, and it beats nursing resentment.
Is Harvard a public university. If not they can let in who they want.
No, I'm not Asian.
GOOD! Enough of this discrimination against Caucasian and Asians. That’s what it’s been right? Refusing entrance to some based on the color of their skin and allowing others in precisely because of theirs. How do they even spin that anymore?
