The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Good evening all. Boy, it's dark outside, and cold.

As we move into this season we'll see more holiday shows, but for now we've got a regular lineup and a good one tonight...A Date with Judy with Sinatra from ‘45 will be cool...Let George Do It is new (to me)...and a fun 10pm hour with Suspense! and Inner Sanctum...

How's it going out there...

Let George Do It stars Bob Baily. I believe Ed has played it before.

Hello, FRiends! Thanks, Vision!

The cold is just starting to move into our area, but it's still fairly warm ahead of the front.

I like the last two shows, and this "Johnny Dollar" series was the last of the multi-part shows that aired. Don't know if Ed will jump to the half-hour ones or keep playing the serial shows of "Johnny Dollar." Ed has played "Let George Do It" before. It stars Bob Bailey, remember?

Hi, Vision! Keith made a pot of his excellent chili, and in a little while I’ll bake some cornbread to go with it. Not much else happening here.

How about you? All’s well? Any Food Wishes?

Nice. Love chili served with sour cream.

Yea, food wishes chicken riggies. It was ok, didn't thrill me. So many good things go in it. Oh, and some roasted butternut squash and onions. Really good.

I think Ed’s not playing Inner Sanctum in favor of the Lone Ranger recreation...

I’ve never cooked butternut squash. I see all those weird kinds of squashes in the produce section, but have never tasted them. I’m sure I’d like them, though, since, if it’s food, I like it. :-)

Yes, the chili—I grate some sharp cheddar, and we have sour cream. GOOOOD stuff!

I take back what I said about chicken riggies. Just realized I used 36oz of tomatoes instead of 24. So THAT’s probably why is wasn't as flavorful as expected.

I’ll bet it was good anyway. I know you’re a very good cook, Vision, even with a little extra tomato.

That last speech of Kitty’s almost made me cry! What a wimp I am!

Evening, all. Just popping in and out. Chilly and dark here, too, Vision. I bet we've burned though a half cord of wood in the last two weeks. We're about to get up to an inch of rain overnight, then the bottom's really going to drop out, temp-wise. Teens and low 20's at night and maybe not above freezing in some spots. Wintry mix up in the hills of the northern tier counties. Got a fire in the wood stove, scented wooden wick candles alight, cats all curled up so comfy looking at them makes you yawn, and the missus and I are wearing our Scandinavian slipper socks. (Mama Viking says she'll tell Santa to bring us real Muk Luks for Christmas this year. )

All is well. Be back after The Walking Dead is over at 10.
