Sorry you lost your cat, Sam.
When I was a kid I brought home a stray kitten who turned out to have feline leukemia. He infected one of our other cats, who then died too.
There is a vaccine for feline leukemia now. It is recommended for Outside cats or cats that are around strays

Very sorry to hear it. I work with rescue animals and I’ve been in your shoes (though the reasons varied) more times than I care to remember. It never gets easier.

Lost Misty almost 20 years ago to the same thing. My fault, I never had her immunized against this horrible disease. Great loss to my family and many years later I still blame myself.

Sorry about the cross up on the FUS. I meant leukemia. We’ve been there too. We’ve had more than forty cats since we’ve been married, and have had our sad times as well.
