This is my first Vanity; please let me know if I've done it incorrectly. (I'm not the brightest light on the Christmas tree, when it comes to this stuff :-)
We are divorcing our cable bundle. It's just too expensive, for what we're getting.
We've got a new TV, a Roku, and are planning on subscribing to HULU. We will also be ditching the 'phone part of the bundle, and going to some kind of VOIP.
The only thing we're not going to be able to access, is Fox news. Does anyone know of a conservative alternative TV news station that might be available to us with our new set-up?
Thanks very much, JT
We did this back in February. Best move we ever made.
P.S. You can get Fox News clips on their ROKU channel.
Like getting free money for driving a stake into the heart of the Devil.
Sign up for Netflix as well. Worth the money and has access to much of FOX offerings.
I have a local wireless company providing phone and computer access as well as ROKU. Nothing else I need.
I posted this back in Dec of 2013.
Get your news exclusively from the Internet.
None of my money has gone to Ted and Hanoi Jane, Chrissy Matthews or John Stewart for 3 years and it feels great! The only thing I miss is certain sports programming.
My wife has streaming live Fox News on every day. Pirated in some fashion, and low quality video, but it’s there.
Welcome to the party.
The future of video changed when Hollywood tried to rig the system.
Harry Reid did it
I do Netflix and Amazon Prime.
No real fix for Fox News but it won’t be too long before they change.
I haven’t had television at all since March of 1995.
Try reading instead. After a few months you won’t miss television at all, and after a couple of years the pause between delivering lines on a sitcom will nauseate you.
You're doing all the right stuff. Although, Netflix may be better than Hulu. Doesn't Hulu have commercials? Also, just get an HD antenna for local broadcasts.
Most bundles come with TV, landline phone and internet. And that’s expensive. You can get internet alone for about 50 bucks a month, depending on what part of the country you live in. Taxes and regulations are expensive in the North, and cheap in the South.
And if you’re online you can get live broadcasts from Fox News and hundreds of other news outlets from around the world. And you can watch TV shows and movies for “free”, if you’re into that. Even old stuff from the last century.
My favorites are those old “Tales From The Crypt” episodes that ran on HBO in the 1990’s. They are obscene and hilariously gruesome.
You mean just get an antenna. No such thing as HD antenna outside of marketing. Antenna design is based on wavelength and gain, not content.
You can currently get FOXNEWSGO .. on your computer, at www.foxnews.com. I haven’t tried it, but it looks like it might be a really good way to ditch regular cable. I’ve been thinking of cancelling everything but my current local stations, plus I have internet (which is very good), and a phone line. They just raised my rate to $128/mo.
We’re dumping ours too in December, after our contract expires.
We bought a ‘Mohu’ Leaf. Is that what you mean? We do have a little old tv in the bedroom that we don’t use much, but we wanted to at least have local on that.
Thanks for your response!

I’m old enough to remember when the History Channel showed history shows
