An assassination attempt of a rabbi, a provocative visit by an Israeli MP, and a Palestinian leader saying Israeli moves are tantamount to a "declaration of war" have Jerusalem at its most perilous moment since the end of the second intifada.
Today Moshe Feiglin walked on the holiest site in Judaism and posed for photos in front of the Dome of the Rock, a revered Muslim shrine that rests wher many believe the Jewish Temple once stood. In doing so the Israeli member of parliament fueled growing Muslim-Jewish tensions around Jerusalem's Temple Mount, which in the past week saw an assassination attempt against a right-wing rabbi and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas call Israel's decision to temporarily close the site a "declaration of war."
Mr. Feiglin's action was a direct challenge to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus call this morning for parliament to exercise responsibility and restraint" around the Temple Mount complex.
The Temple Mount is the most sensitive kilometer on earth, Mr. Netanyahu said, as tensions in Jerusalem reached an intensity not seen in a decade. It is easy to start a religious fire, but much more difficult to extinguish it.
Feiglin, like Yehuda Glick, the rabbi currently recovering from the murder attempt last week, favors building Judaism's Third Temple on the site, which would require the destruction of both the Dome of the Rock and, many Muslims believe, the nearby Al Aqsa mosque.
Many Muslims say that a prayer at Al Aqsa, situated on a grand plateau overlooking Jerusalem, is worth 500 prayers elsewhere. By the same token, a match lit here can start a far bigger fire than if it were struck in almost any other hotspot of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I thought the dome of the rock was the mosque or just under. Somebody help, please.
Some believe the actual site is nearby, not on TM. But how would I know.
The enemy has to be removed from Jerusalem and the rest of the land of Israel.
Too much is too much. Way, way too much.
Years and years of the Satanic Muslim ranting, threats, attacks, and murders against innocent Israeli men, women and children. Not to mention throwing rocks at Jews and Christians trying to walk by the Temple Mount or, audacity of audacities, even say a little prayer there.
To HELL with the IslamoNazis! to HELL with them all!
Let them live back in their own countries, damn&t!
Well, wherever it is rebuilt, we’ve got our work clearly defined for us.
I still don’t know how the Jews intend to reinstitute the sacrifices that were a primary reason for that style of temple worship in Jerusalem.
Of course, born-again believers in Lord Jesus Christ know that we the church are the temple of God with Christ as the head of His body of believers and that His personal sacrifice (The Cross) completely finished God’s plan of redemption once and for all time, negating the need for another building in Jerusalem other than the one He has built with His own hand.
I long to see the Day that all Israel (including Judah) believe that.
The US is the side demanding apartheid in Jerusalem
Yes, that line stood out to me to say, “This writer has absolutely no idea what he/she is talking about, so the whole article is probably bullcrap.”
So be it.

Provocative visit, right wing rabbi? The Christian Science Monitor is just another pro-jihadist piece of trash.
“”Isn’t it an established historical and archaeological fact that the Temple Mount stands atop the site of the ancient temple?””
It’s my understanding the term Temple Mount means the actual foundation of the ancient temple. Is this not true?
GOOD! Bring it on. The Jordanian Wakf must be removed, even if it terminates the useless peace agreement with them.
That's funny. Because Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran, while being mentioned 860 times in the Jewish and Christian bibles combined. Moreover, it is mentioned 12 times in the Book of Sura in the Koran that all of Israel belongs to the Hebrews. Thus any Muslim that occupies or denies Jewish land to Jews is a heretic.
