I like the old radio show, and the movie is pretty decent too, although I always thought it a bit unfortunate that the whole Martin-and-Lewis aspect overshadowed things a bit. There was a “My Friend Irma” tv-series that followed, but it was broadcast live (as opposed to being filmed like “I Love Lucy” or “My Little Margie” and such), so it never got rerun. In fact, I’m not even sure if many kinescopes survive of the series at all.

Sometimes you can see Marie Wilson earlier on, in small character parts in late-1930s Warner Brothers films, often playing the ditzy girlfriend of the comic relief. She was actually quite fetching back then, in a sort of geeky way. Moreso than later on, when she adopted that stolid, peroxide blonde look on “My Friend Irma.”
