STONEHAM, Mass A store owner used chili powder to take down an armed robber who barged into a convenience store on Main Street in Stoneham late Saturday evening.
Brett Osgood, 25, of Revere was arrested and charged with armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation.
According to the police, Osgood went into the convenience store late Saturday evening and purchased a $2 lottery scratch ticket. A short time later, he allegedly returned with a man in his 40s who attempted to cash in a scratch ticket.
While Khan had the register open, one of the men drew a firearm and ordered him not to close the cash register.
Khan refused and told the men that he would not give them any money.
Surveillance video shows the second suspect hitting Khan several times in the face, but he broke away.
Video shows Khan throwing chili powder in the robbers' faces.
The robbers fled, but police said Khan followed them and made note of their license plate before calling police.
The license plate was registered to Osgood's residence in Revere, where he was arrested by authorities.
Police are still seeking the second suspect.
This is not the first time Khan has used chili powder to defend himself during a robbery.
In November 2012, a man pointed a gun in his face threatening to shoot if he didnt open the register.
In that case, he also used chili power to help scare the robber away.
Osgood was arraigned in Woburn District Court Monday.
True Story: Once saw a man have a seizure while eating Blazing wings at Buffalo Wild Wings.
SMART MR KHAN the store owner...Probably is from Pakistan and has begged for a gun permit numerous times in hyper liberal Massachusetts.
So Mr Khan ran him off w chili powder. WELL DONE!!!

Steep that stuff in rubbing alcohol for a few weeks. Toss it at the liquid at the robber. It will burn off the perps face
How about put it a large water pistol?
But actually tossing the hot pepper powder at the robbers face is more reliable
Lol!

This could have a chilling effect on crime.

I handled habaneros without gloves once....it was nearly as bad as when I put bengay on my hip and then went to bed naked....
+1
nasty!! washing with soap after handling hot peppers will get the hot stuff off your hands
No it won’t, lol.
Even quite mild buffalo chips have left enough stuff still on the skin after scrubbing thoroughly with soap that touching my leg after had a noticeable burn. That’s just very mildly flavored powders combined with the greasiness of potato chips.
When you get talking about actual pepper oils...no, just no. A simple handwash that would be adequate after toileting isn’t adequate for handling peppers!
<<< nasty!! washing with soap after handling hot peppers will get the hot stuff off your hands
No. I mean yeah, wash your hands w/ soap & water for the obvious bits & then dairy products, like milk or I suppose sour cream, for neutralizing what’s caught in your cuticles. Use milk fats to absorb pepper oils.
Isn’t milk what people drink if they eat a way too hot item by mistake or in a challenge? Coats the stomach from that incendiary depth charge.
And the tongue. According to my sweetie who is more of an expert than I on growing & eating hot stuff, yes.
