Abortion and pop music culture are often intertwined. Whether its the girlfriend of Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler having an abortion or Michael Jackson writing a song about abortion that wasnt released until after his death, pop music and musicians are frequently involved in abortion or commenting on it.
Now, classic rocker Stevie Nicks of the band Fleetwood Mac has confirmed that the song Sara was about a baby she had with Eagles frontman Don Henly who was eventually killed in an abortion.
Heres more:
stevienicksFleetwood Macs Stevie Nicks has confirmed that she was once pregnant with Don Henleys child.
The Eagles singer has said in interviews that Fleetwood Mac song Sara was dedicated to the spirit of the aborted baby they conceived together.
In a new interview with Billboard, Nicks confirmed Henleys story. Had I married Don and had that baby, and had she been a girl, she said, I would have named her Sara. But there was another woman in my life named Sara, who shortly after that became Micks wife, Sara Fleetwood.
Its accurate, she added, referring to Henleys suggestion of the songs meaning, but not the entirety of it. Nicks wrote the song in 1979, when it appeared on the bands Tusk album.
Know the song is about abortion, the lyrics make more sense in that context:
Sara, youre the poet in my heart Never change, never stop And now its gone All I ever wanted Was to know that you were dreaming (Theres a heartbeat And it never really died)
Here are the full lyrics:
Wait a minute baby
Stay with me awhile Said youd give me light But you never told be about the fire Drowning in the sea of love Where everyone would love to drown And now its gone It doesnt matter anymore When you build your house Call me home And he was just like a great dark wing Within the wings of a storm I think I had met my match he was singing And undoing the laces Undoing the laces Drowning in the sea of love Where everyone would love to drown And now its gone It doesnt matter anymore When you build your house Call me home Hold on The night is coming and the starling flew for days Id stay home at night all the time Id go anywhere, anywhere Ask me and Im there because I care Sara, youre the poet in my heart Never change, never stop And now its gone It doesnt matter what for When you build your house Ill come by Drowning in the sea of love Where everyone would love to drown And now its gone It doesnt matter anymore When you build your house Call me home All I ever wanted Was to know that you were dreaming (Theres a heartbeat And it never really died)
Just assume everybody in the music business had sex with everyone else (though they may not have remembered it).
It was the 70s, after all.
What is interesting is how many of these really talented people have no kids. Lots of showbiz women.
How would she know? And being a mother isn't intended to be a birthday party .... it's about commitment, responsibility, and love. Fun is a byproduct but not the point.
“Nicks has said that she consciously chose not to have children of her own, due to her demanding career and desire to follow her art wherever it should take her:”
We have those. G_d himself provided for us the herb bearing seed of the field. It literally can and has been used since our creation for everything from food, fuel, paper, clothing, housing, transportation, medicine.
Only since Carrie Nation and the highway paving crew with good intentions prohibited everything has it been called evil. It used to be illegal to NOT grow it.
The dirty secret of birth control is that it doesn’t work. That’s why gals who use it are the bread and butter of the abortion industry. That’s also why abortion providers market contraceptives and “sex education.”
So why wait so long to make this public? Is it because her fans are mostly leftists?
It’s because her fans are as old as Bill and Hillary.
“Theres a heartbeat And it never really died”
Yes, there was. But it did die. Really. By its own mother’s “choice.”
Pray for forgiveness.
BTW my previous comment was directed an Nicks, not you, Morgana.
First degree, premeditated murder of her own child. She should be proud. I hope she has worked on her entrance into heaven speech when reaches the Pearly Gates. Had little use for her before and even less now knowing that she willingly killed her daughter. Disgusting.
She “wasn’t able”? She had all the money in the world to care for this child.
This woman murdered her own baby. As surely as if she had taken a gun and blown her daughter’s brains out or drowned her in a bathtub. In fact, it’s probably even worse than that. She may have had her tortured to death by a “doctor”. She CHOSE to do it.
Her own child. That is monstrous. And she’s not even too ashamed to tell the world she did it. (I don’t think she regrets it. It sounds like she’s cashing in for the drama. Maybe self pity...I don’t care)
Considering the egos on those two, it’s not surprising. But it’s still outrageous.
“Sara” is in Better Hands. These two are still pieces of crap.
She seemed to imply in the interview, that she had medical reasons why she could not have children. Maybe it was because of a botched abortion. Who knows?
She has always looked like a tortured soul to me.
You are right-Sara is in Better Hands.
All her songs are eerie. Yeah, I loved this song too. Now, I don’t know what to think.
You’re more generous than me, I guess. But I think that’s accurate as far as the image she’s tried to project. Some people “torture” their own souls for profit. Celebrities are especially bad about it- musicians worse than most. jmho
In my experience, it works if you use it correctly.
My wife and I have been married for 30 years. We were fortunate to never have any fertility problems even though we waited several years to have any children. When we wanted children we had them. When we did not want children we did not.
We no longer have any need for birth control thanks to my wife's menopause. We are now having to buy it anyway thanks to Obamacare.
A convicted pedophile.
“Sara”
Wait a minute baby...
Stay with me awhile
Said you’d give me light
But you never told me about the fire
Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
But now it’s gone
It doesn’t matter what for
When you build your house
Call me home
And he was just like a great dark wing
Within the wings of a storm
I think I had met my match — he was singing
And undoing
And undoing
Undoing the laces
Undoing the laces
Said Sara, you’re the poet in my heart
Never change, never stop
But now it’s gone
It doesn’t matter what for
But when you build your house
Call me home
Hold on
The night is coming and the starling flew for days
I’d stay home at night all the time
I’d go anywhere, anywhere, anywhere
Ask me and I’m there because I care
In the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
But now it’s gone
They say it doesn’t matter anymore
If you build your house
Then please, call me home
Sara, you’re the poet in my heart
Never change, and don’t you ever stop
But now it’s gone
It doesn’t matter anymore
When you build your house
I’ll come by
All I ever wanted
Was to know that you were dreaming
(There’s a heartbeat
And it never really died)
I am not a fan, please pray for this poor soul you are watching her face what she has done, she needs prayers very much.
