I kind of enjoyed Man of Steel for a similar reason. The Planet Krypton condemned itself by genetic modification. The ruling council ended up being a bunch of fools, shut down their own chance at space colonization, then denie that there were any problems up until their planet blew itself to pieces. If anything, Man of Steel I have to be thankful for in terms of renewing the issues poses by Gattaca.

People like you make my job hard. You ought to try it sometime. Try telling a mother that she should have her baby, even though it may not be what she thinks of as perfect.
She has heard people like you growing up. She's heard Downs babies called "tards". She's seen the jokes people like you make.
Why should she believe me when she has had a lifetime of people like you, making fun of what God has made?
So, what is the answer?

I think those with inherited problems that can be seen remind us of the deformities of our own souls, hence the reaction.
My nephew has Williams Syndrome plus had a stroke the night before his open heart surgery at 2 years old. He loves music and plays video games when not working. My sister is a saint.
