Morning Has Broken
Eleanor Farjeon, UK, 1881-1965

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

If you look at the lyrics this could also be sung by someone Jewish… Like this
Neil Diamond

Except that that’s NOT the poem.

I knew it the moment I heard it was a poem by an English poetess of the 19th century. They would never say “from the world”. That made no sense to them. So I looked it up. And sure enough, the non Christians changed it.

Morning has broken,
Like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken
Like the first bird;
Praise for the singing,
Praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing
Fresh from the WORD.

You see,

“In the Beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
And the Word WAS God.
The Same was in the Beginning with God.
All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything that was made. In Him was life, and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-3

The 1st verses of John stating the divinity and creating authority of Christ. So you see what Stevens has done is already an insult to Christians, and they don’t know it.
